The following article is an excerpt from the original article that was published in the Nov 1, 2016 Lamont Leader magazine. Mundare Club members were interviewed about the game of floor curling while hosting their Oct 18, 2016 AFCA Tournament.

Sport of floor curling draws seniors together ... Floor curling is good exercise and a great way to meet people, that was the overall consensus of participants during the Oct 18 2017 bonspiel as the Mundare Senior Citizens Centre.
Club President and chief organizer, Marrien Chudyk, said they are blessed to have a nice facility and keen members who love to play the game. Marrien, who also serves as the Area 7 Director of the Alberta Floor Curling Association (AFCA), was pleased to host the event, which had a total of 16 teams and 64 players, from throughout the region.
There was even a team from outside their region competing. That team was comprised of Emil and Carol Schiller, and Ed and Joan Leiman, who are from the Flatbush area, and they were specially invited by Marrien to attend their bonspiel in Mundare.
Emil has been serving as AFCA President for over the past four years now. Emil noted that floor curling for Flatbush "really supports our building" and in large parts keeps the doors of the Flatbush Hall open.
Floor curling has also proven to be very popular in Mundare with an average of 25 members coming out to play every Monday and Wednesday afternoons. The Mundare Seniors Club sponsors two AFCA tournaments a year, plus Mundare teams also travel to other Clubs' tournaments to participate in their bonspiels'.
One of Mundare's members, Darlene Huchulak, says that after trying floor curling only once, she was hooked. She is also very grateful that the club has enough members to play the indoor sport she loves. She loves the relaxed, friendly and fun atmosphere of the club, and likes the fact that they allow for interplaying so that everyone has a chance to try different positions and play with different members.
Marsha Woloschuk also loves floor curling. She likes that it gets her out of the house twice a week, gives her some exercise and provides for socialization with her co-players. She especially enjoys a cup of coffee afterwards where she can relax and socialize with friends.
Gloria Balla has been floor curling for many years and loves the camaraderie that she has found with other players. She participates as well as volunteers with other activities at the Mundare Senior Citizens Centre. She highly recommends the club to all.

"We've also got Mundare on the map" adds Darlene Huchulak, who was a team member of the Alberta Floor Curling Provincials who won the Championship for the June 2016 Provincials:
Team Perlik from Mundare consisted of: Skip: Ed Perlik, Third: Helen Zachoda, Second: Darlene Huchulak, Lead: Judy Shaw.

Floor Curling in Vegreville 2015
Here we see some of our playoff teams curling off at the Provincial Playoffs in Vegreville, Vegreville has 5 floors - 2 lino floors hidden off of the main area, and 3 hardwood floors located in the main area, where most of the activity takes place. The main area allows for lots of room for observers to sit and watch. Each of these pictures highlights a team member throwing their rock. I'm sure many of you can recognize most, if not all, of the players and members in these pictures.
